The 2nd European Roma Summit will take place in Cordoba, Spain on April 8-9, 2010. (April 8 is International Roma Day.) The Spanish Minister of Education, Social Policy and Sports, Mercedes Cabrera, made this announcement during the Conference ''Facing the Future: Key Factors in the Development of the Roma Population" on March 24-25, 2009.
This 1st European Roma Summit, a high-level conference on the inclusion of Roma, took take place in Brussels, Belgium, on September 16, 2008, under the joint patronage of European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and the French Presidency of the European Council.
Debates at the 2nd European Roma Summit will build upon the latest developments regarding Roma issues at the European level, in particular the outputs from the two meetings of the European Platform for Roma Inclusion and the 10 Common Basic Principles for Roma Inclusion (see below) annexed to the EPSCO Council Conclusions of June 2009.
Following the pattern from the first Summit, this event will gather representatives from the EU institutions, Member States, international organisations and Roma civil society.

Participation in the Summit is limited to those invited by the Spanish Presidency of the Council.
