[17:02 - Serbian with English Subtitles] This video, produced by the Roma Center for Democracy with support from the Open Society Foundations, examines the forced eviction in 2009 of a large Roma ghetto under the Gazela Bridge in Belgrade, Serbia, in preparation for repair work on the dilapidated bridge The Gazela settlement was predominantly inhabited by Roma who fled conflicts in the territory of the former Yugoslavia beginning in the 1990s. Many of the families evicted from Gazela now live in metal containers far from local amenities and access to work, in six sites on the outskirts of Belgrade.
