The Roma Education Fund Scholarships Programme invites researchers to submit proposals for a study of drop-outs in relation to the Roma Memorial University Scholarship Program (RMUSP)
The Roma Memorial University Scholarship program (RMUSP) was established in 2001 with funding from the Open Society Institute (OSI) and administered by OSI for seven years. Since 2008 it has been managed by the Roma Education Fund (REF) Scholarships Programme.
RMUSP operates in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Slovakia, Serbia and Turkey. Between 2001 and 2010 more than 6,600scholarships were given to Roma students in program countries to enable Roma youth to pursue tertiary education in their home countries or their countries of residence.
The Roma Education Fund Scholarships Programme is now inviting researchers and experts in education to carry out a full-scale study of drop-outs, attrition tendencies and dynamics, as well as to research the background for such tendencies within the evaluation framework of the program. The focus of the drop-out study and evaluation of RMUSP will be 400 beneficiaries in four program countries.
The study will be carried out in the program countries between July 20 and October 20, 2010. The work period may not exceed 40 working days. Draft and final study/evaluation documents should be delivered in English.
Experts who have relevant experience and credentials and wish to apply to carry out this work—individually or in groups—must submit:
- CVs
- A study proposal—including framework, methodology and timeframes—supported by a detailed budget. The initial proposal may not exceed 2.5-3 pages.
The terms of reference for the study are attached at right.
Interested applicants should send the above documents as e-mail attachments to Ms. Valeria Bodoczky at vbodoczky@romaeducationfund.org by 5:00 p.m. CET on Friday, July 9, 2010.
