The Change Potential - Serbian Version (2010)
[16:34 - Serbian] This video documents a grassroots campaign to register voters for the June 2010 Roma National Council elections in Serbia. When the process began, many doubted that a significant increase in voter registration was possible. In the end, however, the campaign succeeded in registering more than 40,000 Roma voters—enough to establish a system of direct, democratic and transparent elections for the Roma National Council. Organized by five Roma nongovernmental organizations and involving more than 120 grassroots activists across Serbia, the campaign was supported by the Serbian Ministry for Human and Minority Rights, the Open Society Foundations, the National Democratic Institute (NDI), the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and others, including local and national media.
