Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the International Step by Step Association (ISSA), we would like to reiterate our invitation to submit a proposal for Embracing Inclusive Approaches for Children and Youth with Special Education Needs, an international conference to be held between 11-14 July 2010, in Riga, Latvia. This event, co-organized by the Division of International Special Education and Services, the Council for Exceptional Children, the Center for Education Initiatives, and the International Step by Step Association, will serve as the 2010 Annual Conference for ISSA. Supporting organizations include: Latvian Ministry of Education and Science, UNESCO, Open Society Institute and UNICEF.

The Riga 2010 Conference will bring together practitioners, researchers, policy makers, and NGOs from around the globe to discuss the current state of educating children and youth with special educational needs.

Topics include:

• Accountability and large-scale assessment
• Advocacy
• Behavior supports
• Inclusive schools
• Instructional design and strategies
• Life transitions
• Policy
• And more

Proposals will be evaluated based on the importance and relevance of the topic, its evidence base, and its usefulness to practitioners or policy makers.
