The Decade Presidency is held annually by a participating Decade country according to the rotating schedule listed on the About page of this website. According to the Terms of Reference of the Decade of Roma Inclusion, the government holding the Presidency of the Decade has the following responsibilities, among others:
- Develop a work plan that describes the priority areas for its Presidency year and
present it for discussion by the International Steering Committee (ISC) - Guide the work of the Secretariat of the Decade in implementing the work plan and other work relating to the Decade
- Coordinate the exchange of information and the implementation of jointly agreed Decade activities at the international level
- Convene, organize, conduct and chair ISC meetings and workshops on Decade issues
- Act as the main representative of the Decade before European and international institutions
- Communicate Decade goals, activities and results to the media
Macedonia currently holds the Decade Presidency, which it took over from the Czech Republic on July 1, 2011. The Presidency was formally transferred to Macedonia during the 20th International Steering Committee Meeting in Prague on June 27-28, 2011. Croatia will assume the Decade Presidency on July 1, 2012.
