International Summer School on Human Rights, Minorities and Diversity Management

2012.02.06

Eight scholarships are available for the "Human Rights, Minorities and Diversity Management in Europe and Canada: Comparative Issues and Challenges" summer school organized by the EURAC Institute for Minority Rights.

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I would like to draw your attention on EURAC’s Institute for Minority Rights International Summer School taking place in Bolzano/Bozen (Italy) from 25.06.2012 until 06.07.2012.

The Summer School’s Special Focus of 2012 is "Human Rights, Minorities and Diversity Management in Europe and Canada: Comparative Issues and Challenges".

Taking stock of the Canadian multiculturalism tradition and the European minority rights’ protection system, core and topical questions, such as whether European States (e.g., U.K., the Netherlands, France, and Germany) turned their backs on multiculturalism, or if the apparent European backlash against multiculturalism may have any impact on Canada, will be addressed in the two weeks course in particular from a legal perspective. The Summer School’s teaching approach will provide for interactive thought-provoking academic lectures, and the opportunity to engage in case studies and role playing exercises.

Participants: The summer school is open to indicatively 25 - 30 students (BA, MA or PhD), young researchers, civil servants, politicians, activists and other stakeholders (e.g. media).

Tuition fee: 300 Euro. The fee includes teaching material, access to the library and the internet, a guided tour through Bolzano, a welcome coffee and a farewell dinner. Accommodation, travel costs and other expenses are not included.

Scholarships: 8 scholarships, including the accommodations costs and a reduced tuition fee of 100 Euro, will be offered.

The deadline for applications is 15 April 2012. Successful participants will be notified by 15 May 2012.
