This two-day international conference will bring together practitioners, academics, experts, and key stakeholders to improve knowledge, skills and insights into the problems and solutions of child poverty. The particular themes will be; the contribution of cities; the roles of local partners and the role of national and international leadership legislation and resources in tackling the child poverty challenge.
The conference will approach child poverty is a local, national and international issue and will included themed sessions which explore causes and solutions to address the problems.
Newcastle City Council has been awarded Beacon Council status in 2009 in tackling Child Poverty. The Beacon Scheme is a prestigious award from the UK Government that recognises excellence in local government.
