BBC News: Life of the Roma on Show in Carmarthen
Once We Were Birds
Award winning photographers Tina Carr and Annemarie Schöne travelled to Eastern Europe to meet and work with Roma communities, documenting aspects of their daily lives. Staying on campsites in Budapest and travelling in their converted van to a settlement in the North East of Hungary, the project engaged with and explored the identity, future, and aspirations of the many people they met. In seeking to document the lives of the Roma community, Tina and Annemarie present a powerful exhibition of photographs and film that advance a call for greater tolerance towards a mis-represented people.
