Making the Most of EU Funds (2008)

This study, commissioned by the Open Society Institute, is intended as a compendium of good practice in EU-funded projects for Roma.

Making the Most of EU Funds: A Compendium of Good Practice of EU Funded Projects for Roma, a study by Brian Harvey commissioned by the Open Society Institute, is intended as a compendium of good practice in EU-funded projects for Roma.

The study aims to map best practices, programs and projects intended to improve the situation of ethnic minorities in Europe—in particular, but not exclusively, Roma—that fit into the requirements of the various EU funding instruments. It identifies pitfalls in the programming, implementation and evaluation phases and also identifies bad practice. Making the Most of EU Funds includes a guide to relevant EU funding programs. The overall intention is to provide a compendium of good practice examples which can be replicated, scaled up and used as an inspiration or template for project development by local government, civil society and the European Commission so as to improve the use of funding instruments to better the situation of Roma people.
