Initiative for Social Change – InSoC is organizing a national conference for discussion on the Decade Watch Macedonia 2008 – national report on the progress of the Decade of Roma Inclusion 2005 – 2015, from the perspective of the Roma community, on 26 February 2010, from 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m, at the Continental Hotel, Skopje, Macedonia.

The National Conference for Discussion of the report Decade Watch Macedonia 2008 is organize to communicate the findings from the research and discuss with relevant stakeholders the recommendations for improvement of the effectiveness and efficiency of the Decade of Roma Inclusion 2005 – 2015 as a public policy aimed at improvement of the situation of Roma. Participation of representatives from relevant institutions, civil society organizations, international organizations and media is expected. The conference will start with statements from representative of the Decade Secretariat in Budapest, National Coordinator – Minister without Portfolio Mr Nezdet Mustafa and National Coordinator for Implementation – Minister of Labour and Social Policy Mr Djelal Bajrami. The presentation and discussion on the report will be conducted in two parts – general part with plenary discussion and four panels on the priority areas of the Decade. Decade Watch Macedonia 2008 is a report of conducted research among 550 Roma from 17 municipalities from Macedonia. The research attempts to assess the implementation of the Decade of Roma Inclusion 2005 – 2015 in Republic of Macedonia from the aspect of the Roma community, including views on the changes of the situation of Roma, systematic changes beneficial for Roma and changes in the public in regards to Roma. The research is part of the regional progress monitoring initiative of the Decade of Roma Inclusion 2005 – 2015 called Decade Watch. It was conducted as part of the project ‘Roma Inclusion in the Monitoring and Communication with Key Actors of the Decade in Macedonia 2’ of RNGO Roma 2002. The national conference is part of the project ‘Decade Watch Macedonia: On the half way of the Roma Decade’ which is continuation of the initiative conducted by the Initiative for Social Change – InSoC.
