The Making the Most of EU Funds for Roma (MtM) initiative is calling for proposals from organizations and consortia to implement the Project Generation Facility in Slovakia. The main purpose of the project is to provide assistance to municipalities to generate funds from the EU structural funds for social inclusion interventions targeting Roma among other beneficiaries. The selected implementer is expected to use a variety of funding opportunities from the EU Structural Funds in order to generate funds for Roma inclusion in Slovakia.
The deadline for applications is November 8, 2011.
The call for proposals is part of the Open Society Foundations initiative Making the Most of EU Funds for Roma. The initiative was launched in 2007 as an instrument to advance the fulfillment of the objectives of the Decade for Roma Inclusion by using EU financial resources. Through project development assistance, capacity-building and advocacy, Making the Most seeks solutions to problems such as the weak visibility of Roma issues in the implementation of EU cohesion policies at the national and local levels; disadvantages in resources and expertise; and overly bureaucratic funding procedures, which block access of the most deprived to development opportunities.
The Project Generation Facility (PGF) is focused on giving Roma and others working for the benefit of the Roma communities access to the same level and quality of project design and advocacy capabilities as other Structural Funds applicants. At the same time, it will utilize the experience and capacity of the Open Society Foundations to stimulate interest of potential beneficiaries and steer them towards projects bringing sustainable improvement for the Roma.
