The Roma Education Fund (REF) urgently seeks candidates for a part-time, voluntary intern position that mainly involves administrative duties related to REF’s European Commission-supported pilot project, "A Good Start."
The focus of the project is the development of early childhood education and care. (For more information about the project, see http://www.romaeducationfund.hu/eu_roma_pilot/index.php).
Background:
Internships are an important component of REF’s activities because they allow young educated Roma to get acquainted with REF and Roma education issues. Internships also helps REF to establish a network of young and dynamic people who, following their work at REF, can support the objectives of the Fund in various ways. REF has generally two intern positions, which last for three months and can be either part-time or full-time.
Candidates should:
- be fluent both in Hungarian and English;
- be available for the position for a 3-month period, starting as soon as possible;
- be willing to work on a voluntary basis, in close cooperation with the Project Manager and the Administrative and Financial Assistant, in REF’s Budapest office;
- have previous experience with Roma education issues (studies, volunteer work, professional work) and demonstrate a strong interest in these issues.
- In case the candidate is not a Hungarian citizen, a valid Hungarian student or resident visa is required for the duration of the internship.
- Roma origin is an advantage.
Selection process:
Selection will be done one week prior to the starting date of the position. Interested candidates should send a CV and a letter of intent, including their reasons for wanting to learn more about Roma education and details about their availability, to the Project Manager, Ms. Szilvia Pallaghy, at szpallaghy@romaeducationfund.org.
Starting date: September 1, 2010
End date: December 1, 2010
